Minecraft Valentines

Minecraft is a big deal at our house with both the big and little boys alike, so I had expert help with this Valentine project as we tossed ideas back and forth until finally everyone agreed that these are 'the bomb'!

Coming up with a good Valentine slogan was tricky, but this one echos the game awards and  says  it all as simply as possible!
The 'tags' for the card are folded in half and attached to the top part of the box (see image above.)

Instructions:

Click the image to the left to link to the PDF of the pattern for these boxes.

Print the box on cardstock or photopaper (I used cardstock.)

Cut out the boxes and glue together using the tabs.

The boxes measure approximately 2 1/4" when all assembled and will hold a couple snack size candy bars each.

Happy Valentine's Day!

*Thanks to Mindcraft Printables for the basic box pattern.

  1. How did you keep the boxes closed?

  2. The little gray tab slips into the slit just above the heart on the front. I don't recall them popping open before getting them to school intact, but I know once the kids opened them they had to work to get the tab back into that slit. If the slit gets cut too large, it might slide out, so maybe a spot of tape or tiny bit of glue would be needed.

  4. I suggest starting now, making them for an entire class is a bit over the top (even I admit it!) as they take a bit of time to fold and glue together. They are a big hit though. I paced the process over a couple of days and had a teenager to help me. Don't wait until the night before...or you'll be cursing me for sure. ;)

  6. Hmm. Is there a setting "Fit to Page" on the Print Dialog screen? It should be checked. Mine shows it. I don't believe a PDF print will allow you to set margins, but if you see any options for 'layout' you would want margins set to narrow.

  7. These are adorable. My 5 yr old will go nuts over these! After looking at the download, it looks like there are reg marks, so I assume you used a Silhouette Cameo? Would you be willing to share the .studio file also?

  8. Hi Debbie, I am only an amateur at my Silhouette Cameo, but I believe if you download the file as a PDF (as it is in the link here) that you can import a PDF to the Silhouette library and it will convert it, then when printed, the Silhouette will cut it for you. I've used the Silhouette to cut out a number of PDFs from other sources, so I know it can be done, but it has been well over a year since I've used it, so I'm not exactly sure of the process. I recall it was pretty easy, but I'm sure I used the instruction manual to figure it out.

  13. It could depend on what program you're printing from. Make sure there isn't a box checked saying "Scale Media to fit" or any settings that would cause the image to change size. If you right click on the PDF file, and choose print, it should print correctly on an 8.5" x 11" sized sheet of paper or cardstock.
